Enlarged Pores

Enlarged pores are depressions in the skin where one or more openings are present to allow oil and waste products to reach the surface of the skin. Although not a medical concern these can be a cosmetic concern as we may feel self-conscious of their appearance.

A number of factors cause enlarged pores:-

  • Sebaceous glands produce excessive sebum causing enlarged pores.

  • If the skin isn’t cleansed and exfoliated sufficiently a build-up of oil will occur blocking and stretching the pores.

  • As our skin ages it is unable to retain moisture as effectively and elasticity is lost. Over time the skin stretches resulting in to enlarged pores.

  • Changes in hormone levels and genetics can define the pore size.

We offer a variety of advanced in-clinic treatments to shrink pores and our advanced skin therapists will also be able to advise which medical skincare will assist you in managing this common skin concern.
